Most people did not have control over their days, especially their emotion.

Have you ever woke up sometimes feeling dreadful or feeling negative, and sometimes you just feel good, and the rest of the day is filled with so much positive experiences?

I was certain one of those people before, until I learned how to control my emotion first thing in the morning.

And its a simple practice that will improve your happiness level significantly.

And that one thing is none other than Gratitude.

It’s so simple that anyone can do it.

All you have to do is to give thanks for at least 3 things in your life.

Give thanks for the people you meet for they make you grow to be a better person.

Give thank to a situation, whether good or bad, for they have their lessons that serves to grow you as well.

And lastly give thanks for the little things around you.

Perhaps its your phone, the wind on your face, or the fact that you have a bed to sleep; There are many studies that shows the positive side which you can’t simply ignore.

The good thing about being truly grateful is that you can’t feel fearful or angry.

Because like Tony Robbins say:

“The two emotions that mess us up the most are fear and anger, and you can’t be grateful and fearful simultaneously. They just don’t go together,”

I am not saying that you must do it, because it is entirely up to you.

As for me, I like being happy and grateful as often as I can.

I wished I can be grateful “all the time” but that is never the case for anyone, even the greatest lifehacker Tim Ferriss have his down time as well.

But that’s okay.

As long as you be consistent on giving thanks everyday for the rest of your life, you will see your quality of life dramatically change for the better.

The world works by the “like attract like” principle.

Or the law of attraction as most people would have called it.

When you feel grateful, you will naturally attract more situation and people into your life that makes you more grateful and happy.

And notice what happens when you feel angry?

You just want to find whatever is wrong with someone and even a simple wrongful act by someone can trigger an explosive anger within you.

I certain did that LOL.

But since practicing being grateful each morning, I am much more happy and productive in my life.

I am able to think and learn faster, and just having constant burst of energy to do one work after the other, because simply I just have fun doing it.

How to be truly grateful, not just for the sake of doing it or saying it?

It is so easy to fall into the trap of ” I have tried, but I just don’t feel anything! I don’t feel good at all!”

Ever had those moment?

I do as well.

Luckily I found the answer from Vishen’s book.

There’s 3 way you can be grateful.

You can be grateful for the past, present, and future.

And the easiest way to be truly grateful now is to be grateful for your past.

Just imagined yourself 3 years back, you probably aren’t as good as you are today.

This is called the reverse gap.

Think in terms of your career, your character, your relationship.

Aren’t you glad that you have learn so much and grow so much in the past 3 years?

And should that doesn’t work, (which is rarely the case), think about being grateful about your situation, or the country you live in.

This always works for me.

For example, I compared myself to living in war torn countries like Syria or poor countries like Africa, where food and clean water are scare, where people struggle and live in fear each and everyday for their lives;

So aren’t you glad that you live in a country with good infrastructure?

We got internet here, a house to live in, a good economy, a sound financial system, we are able to have a career and so much more abundance around us.

So don’t go around saying and believing that your life is shitty, in fact you are very lucky individuals compared to others from other parts of the world.

So,  try make it a habit of giving thanks every morning for 30 days.

If you feel like its making your life better, then keep going.

You won’t believe how much abundance will flow into you life by just doing that simple practice.
